How to Play Monopoly Live: Rules, Bets & a Beginner's Walkthrough

Monopoly Live is played in four moves: choose a chip, place it on one or more of six spots (1, 2, 5, 10, 2 Rolls, 4 Rolls), wait for the host to spin the 54-segment wheel, and collect if your segment comes up. Numbers pay a fixed ratio, Chance hands everyone a cash prize or a multiplier, and the two Rolls segments send Mr Monopoly around a 3D board to build a multiplier. What is Monopoly Live?

Monopoly Live is a live game show from Evolution, made under license from Hasbro and launched in 2019. A human host stands beside a large vertical money wheel with 54 segments, and players bet on where the wheel stops. What sets it apart from other wheel games is the bonus: when the wheel lands on 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls, the screen switches to an augmented-reality Monopoly board where a computer-generated Mr Monopoly walks the squares according to dice rolls, collecting prizes as he goes.

It streams around the clock from Evolution's studio in Riga. A round takes about 40 to 60 seconds of betting before the spin; a bonus adds one to three minutes.

Two facts matter before your first chip. The wheel is a physical object and the host is a real person, so this is not an animated slot. And every one of the six bet spots carries a house edge; no betting pattern changes that. What does the Monopoly Live screen show?

The interface splits into five parts once you know where to look.

The wheel. In the center of the video, 54 segments in color-coded groups: 22 segments of 1, 15 of 2, 7 of 5, 4 of 10, 2 Chance, 3 of 2 Rolls and 1 of 4 Rolls. A flapper at the top marks the winning segment.

Mr Monopoly. An augmented-reality 3D character sitting beside the wheel. He reacts to spins, pulls out Chance cards, and walks onto the board when a bonus lands.

The bet grid. Along the bottom: six spots laid out as 1, 2, 5, 10, 2 Rolls and 4 Rolls, with the chip selector and Undo, Double and Repeat buttons below. Tap a chip, then tap a spot to bet.

The timer. A countdown bar turns red as betting closes. At zero, bets lock and the host spins.

How does a round of Monopoly Live work?

A complete round follows the same sequence every time.

1. Open the game and wait for betting to open. Launch Monopoly Live from your casino's live lobby. If a round is running, watch it finish; betting opens right after payouts.
2. Pick a chip value. Bet limits typically run from 0.10 to 2,500 per spot, depending on the operator.
3. Place your bets before the timer closes. One spot or all six, with different amounts on each. The window is short, so decide before it opens if you are new.
4. The host spins the wheel. The wheel turns for several seconds and slows to a stop. The segment under the flapper is the result.
5. Number results pay immediately. A chip on the winning number pays 1:1, 2:1, 5:1 or 10:1 plus your stake back.
6. Chance pauses the round. Mr Monopoly reveals a card. A cash card pays every bet on the table and the round ends. A multiplier card holds the multiplier and the host spins again.
7. A Rolls result starts the board bonus for players who bet on it. Houses and hotels go up on the board, then Mr Monopoly rolls two dice two or four times and walks the squares, collecting prizes.
8. Collect and go again. Your balance updates automatically and the next betting window opens within seconds.

What are the Monopoly Live bet spots and what do they pay?

There are six spots and two Chance segments that pay without a bet. Number bets pay a fixed ratio. The two Rolls bets pay whatever multiplier the board produces, so their payout varies from round to round.

Payouts are stated "to one": a 10 chip on the 1 spot wins 10 and returns the stake, 20 back in total. A chip on 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls returns the stake multiplied by the board total, which might be 6x or might be four figures.

The RTP column is the part beginners skip and should not. Monopoly Live spreads its RTPs across almost five points: the 2 spot is the best value at 96.23%, 10 is close behind at 96.02%, the 1 spot returns only 92.88% despite winning most often, and 5 is the worst at 91.30%. How does Chance work in Monopoly Live?

Chance pays without a bet spot, which is what confuses new players. When the wheel stops on one of the two Chance segments, Mr Monopoly produces a card that is one of two things.

A cash prize. A fixed amount is paid to every player with any bet on the table, and the round ends. If you had chips on three spots, you are paid on each.

A multiplier. The multiplier is held and the host spins the wheel again. Whatever the re-spin produces is paid with the multiplier applied. A 5x Chance card followed by the wheel landing on 10 pays 50:1 to anyone on 10. If the re-spin lands on 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls, the multiplier is carried into the board bonus and applied to the final total. And if the re-spin lands on Chance again, the two multipliers are multiplied together before yet another spin.

That stacking is how number bets reach their largest payouts: in our tracked data the biggest result on 1 was 100x, on 2 and 5 was 200x, and on 10 was 160x.

One note on our tracker: the feed records the final outcome of a round, so a Chance multiplier followed by a re-spin is logged under the re-spun result. Only cash-prize Chance rounds appear as "Chance", which is why the observed share (1.42% over the last 90 days) sits below the theoretical 3.70% and the numbers and bonuses sit slightly above theory.

How does the 2 Rolls and 4 Rolls bonus round work?

The board bonus is the reason most people play Monopoly Live, and it only pays players who had a chip on the winning Rolls segment. Here is the sequence.

Houses and hotels. Before any dice are rolled, the host adds houses and hotels to properties on the 3D board, each raising that property's multiplier. This stage is where a bonus gets its ceiling.

The dice. Mr Monopoly rolls two dice and walks the number of squares shown. In 2 Rolls he rolls twice; in 4 Rolls he rolls four times. Rolling doubles gives an extra roll, which is why a 4 Rolls bonus sometimes runs to six or seven moves.

The squares. Every square he lands on changes the running total. Properties add their multiplier, Chance and Community Chest give cash, GO collects, and passing GO doubles every prize on the board. Free Parking gives a random prize. Income Tax deducts 10% and Super Tax 20% of the total so far. Go To Jail sends him to Jail, where he must roll doubles to get out, and those rolls still count.

The payout. The total of everything collected is a multiplier. It is multiplied by your stake on 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls, and by any Chance multiplier carried in from a re-spin.

What a typical bonus pays is smaller than the headline wins suggest. In our last 90 days of tracked rounds, the median 2 Rolls result was 11x (average 14.6x, 90th percentile 23x, maximum 320x). The median 4 Rolls was 29x (average 46.8x, 90th percentile 101x). The biggest 4 Rolls in that window paid 1,200x on 2026-07-17, followed by 712x on 2026-06-12 and 628x on 2026-08-09. Which Monopoly Live rules trip up beginners?

Most of the confusion in the chat comes from five rules that are easy to miss.

You must bet on Rolls to play the bonus. If the wheel stops on 4 Rolls and your chips are on 1 and 2, you watch Mr Monopoly walk the board and win nothing. A chip on 2 Rolls does not qualify you for a 4 Rolls bonus, or the other way round.

Chance is not a bet spot. There is no Chance chip. Chance pays everyone on the table, so the only way to miss a Chance prize is to have no bet that round.

The 1 spot is not the best value. It wins most often, on 40.74% of spins, but at 1:1 with a 92.88% RTP it returns less over time than 2 or 10. Parking everything on 1 because it "always comes up" is the most common beginner habit.

Bonus multipliers are not guaranteed to be large. A 2 Rolls bonus that pays 6x is a normal, common result.

There is a maximum payout per round. Evolution caps winnings at 500,000 in EUR, USD or GBP per player per round, and operators may set lower limits. A 2,500 chip on 4 Rolls multiplied by a 1,200x board would exceed the cap and be trimmed to it.

Can you play Monopoly Live on mobile?

Yes. The mobile game is the same live stream, wheel, six spots and board bonus; Evolution builds one game that adapts to screen size.

Portrait or landscape. Both work. Portrait keeps the wheel above the bet grid for one-handed play; landscape resembles the desktop layout and gives the board bonus more room.

Data use. It is a video stream, so expect data use similar to a video call. The settings menu lets you lower stream quality, and if bandwidth collapses the game drops to a still frame while bets still go through.

Apps and free play. There is no Evolution app for Monopoly Live; you play through your casino's website or its own app, and any app store listing presenting itself as a standalone Monopoly Live casino game is a clone. The reasoning starts with the RTP table. The 2 spot has the highest theoretical return in the game at 96.23% and comes up on 27.78% of spins. The 1 spot comes up more often, on 40.74% of spins, but pays only 1:1 at 92.88%. A chip on each covers 37 of 54 segments, or 68.52% of spins, so you win something more often than not while you learn what the timer, the Chance cards and the board look like in practice. You will lose slowly rather than quickly, which is the most any casino bet offers.

Rolls bets are where the entertainment is, and the case for a small one is simply that you cannot take part in a bonus you have not paid for. In our last 90 days 2 Rolls landed about once every 18 spins (longest gap 158) and 4 Rolls about once every 57 spins (longest gap 438). A chip on 4 Rolls every spin while waiting for that one segment costs a great deal between hits.

What does not work: covering all six spots. You "win" something on most spins while losing money on the whole, because every spot has a house edge and the losing chips outweigh the winner. The 5 spot, at 91.30%, is the most expensive place to leave a chip. How do you read the live tracker before you play?

Segment frequencies. Over the last 90 days (85,861 rounds) the wheel landed on 1 in 41.74% of spins, 2 in 28.59%, 5 in 13.31%, 10 in 7.56%, 2 Rolls in 5.61% and 4 Rolls in 1.76%. Each of those sits within about one percentage point of theory. Chance shows as 1.42% for the recording reason described above.
